Joint Replacement

valley orthopedic associates

According to the Arthritis Foundation, nearly one-in-five adults, or 46 million people, suffer from arthritis. Western Washington is no different. In the greater Seattle area, osteoarthritis affects more people than any other joint disease and, while not life-threatening, it can be a major cause of pain and disability. Proper symptomatic treatment, medication, and occasionally joint replacement can relieve the various levels of discomfort and pain associated with arthritis.

The term “osteoarthritis” refers to a spectrum of disease states. At the mild end of the spectrum, different treatment modalities may decrease symptoms. Such arthritis treatments include activity modification, weight loss, strength training, oral anti-inflammatory medications, or injections of cortisone or other agents into the joint. Our clinics in Renton and Covington offer these arthritis treatments to patients across the region, including Seattle and Tacoma.

Severe arthritis may require more than symptomatic treatment. Surgery may be considered. Common joint replacement surgery performed at Valley Orthopedic Associates, includes hip replacement and knee replacement. Joint replacement is commonly performed as treatment for the most severe osteoarthritis of the lower extremity. Please view the PDF’s listed below for more information about joint replacement procedures for your specific condition.
