Dr. William Barrett is board certified and a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He performs over 500 joint replacement procedures each year. He is actively involved in clinical research on Anterior Approach Total Hip Replacement (THA), Alternative Bearings for THA, Less Invasive Approaches to joint replacement and the use of computerized versus custom cutting guides for knee replacement. As a nationally recognized joint replacement surgeon, Dr. Barrett lectures globally on hip and knee replacement topics. He is active in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Continuing Medical Education programs. He is also a board examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Barrett has been involved in the design of some of the most common hip and knee replacement systems used today. He is the medical director for the Joint Center at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA, voted the #1 hospital for joint replacement in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 by Healthgrades. He is president of the VOA Research Foundation and practices at the Valley Orthopedic Associates Renton office.
